HUNGARY: Boscolo Conference Center to Open at Budapest’s New York Palace Hotel

Boscolo Conference CenterBoscolo Hotels is opening a conference center at Budapest’s 5-Star New York Palace Hotel. The Boscolo Conference Center wing, opening at the end of this year, will have a sleek Italian design and several atrium piazzas serving as a skating ring in winter and a lake garden café in summer. The conference center will be on three levels with a spacious lobby and reception on the ground floor, four conference rooms on the first floor and three more event rooms and a business center on the second floor. All rooms will have built-in sound systems, projectors and screens. In total, the Boscolo Conference Center will feature seven event rooms accommodating from 20 to 600 attendees.

The New York Palace Hotel has 112 guest rooms and suites. Event facilities include eight function rooms catering for 12 to 150 attendees. #

GERMANY: Germany’s SevenCenters Receives Conga-Award

SevenCenters of GermanyGermany’s SevenCenters were awarded a prize for unique marketing concept at this year’s Conga-Awards, which took place on 16 June at the Berlin Exhibition Centre. The SevenCenters are a consortium of Germany’s largest convention centers. Its members are the ICC Berlin-International Congress Center Berlin, DüsseldorfCongress, Congress Frankfurt, CCH–Congress Center Hamburg, Congress-Centrum Koelnmesse–KölnKongress (Cologne), ICM–International Congress Centre Munich and ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart. It’s one-stop shopping for large events in Germany.

The Conga-Award was initiated by the Vereinigung Deutscher Veranstaltungsorganisatoren e.V. (Association of German event organizers) in cooperation with the Seminar- und Tagungsbörse (STB) three years ago. Within that short time, the Conga-Award has become one of the German event business’ most important honors. Each year, ten of Germany’s best events businesses are acknowledged in ten different categories.

GERMANY: Congress Frankfurt: new entrance building “Portalhaus”

Congress Frankfurt: PortalhausBy August 2009 two new buildings will be completed on the Messe Frankfurt exhibition site: the entrance building “Portalhaus” on an area of 2,000 sqm/21,530 sqft and the adjacent 2-storey Hall 11 with more than 23,000 sqm/247,600 sqft of exhibition space.

The Portalhaus and Hall 11 are part of an architectural concept that give a new look to this part of the Frankfurt exhibition site.

“Until now the venue portfolio included the Congress Center, the historic Festhalle and the Forum. The new space complements the existing venues perfectly,” said Claudia Delius-Fisher, Head of Congress Frankfurt. The site has a total exhibition area of 321,000 sqm/3,455,565 sqft. The venues for congresses and meetings currently offer seating for more than 20,000 participants.

Congress Frankfurt, a service department of Messe Frankfurt, offers event organizers individual and tailor-made room solutions, responding to the exact requirements and ideas of the customer and providing the ideal venue for any event.

SOUTH AFRICA: Mount Nelson Hotel Wins ‘Africa’s Leading Hotel’

The luxury property is situated in a garden estate in Cape Town’s center. Each of the property’s 201 guest rooms and suites has a view of either Table Mountain or the hotel’s lush gardens. For meetings, The Mount Nelson’s seven event rooms accommodate from 12 to 400 attendees for conferences, gala dinners or exhibitions. The Grand Ballroom has capacity for 400 and is divisible into two separate rooms. The gardens provide a charming outdoor event venue. For dining and libations, there are the Oasis and Baia restaurants and the Planet Bar.
