Happy New Year! Scotland’s Glasgow, has been named as one of the World’s Top 10 Best Cities to visit on the ‘Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2009’ list. The city was chosen because of its exciting, contemporary image: “Forget about castles, kilts, bagpipes and tartan – you come to Glasgow for the cocktails, cuisine and designer chic (plus the legendary native wit).” For incentive travel programs and conferences, Glasgow offers over 17,000 rooms including 5-Star resorts, boutique and historic properties, all within easy reach of the city’s conference venues. Plus, more than £1 billion is being invested into the city’s riverfront area. This summer the world-famous Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum will re-open after a £27.9 million renovation. Glasgow’s main shopping thoroughfare, Buchanan Street, has been voted one of the world’s top retail destinations. Scotland’s Ayrshire coast, Robert Burns country, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs - the gateway to Scotland’s world-famous Highlands – are less than an hour’s drive from Glasgow. Planning ahead – The 2009 Motivation Show which will take place at Chicago’s McCormick Place South from 29 September to 1st October 2009 is changing exhibition floor hours. New 2009 exhibit hours will be from 10 AM to 5 PM on both Tuesday and Wednesday (29th & 30th September) and from 10 AM to 2:30 PM on Thursday 1st October. Peter Erickson, Managing Director for the 2009 Motivation Show said, “We are moving back the opening of the exhibits each morning by an hour to reduce the overlap between our educational programming and the exhibit hall hours… Changing the exhibit hours removes the need for attendees to choose between a quality seminar they want to attend and important time on our exhibit hall floor.” Until next time Helena Miele, CITE |
