The Burj Dubai, the world’s tallest building, is scheduled for completion in September 2009. The building is going to be taller than originally planned, however, the exact height of the building will not be revealed until its completion. When the Burj Dubai does opens, it will house luxury residences and commercial suites, as well as one of the first Armani Hotels and Armani Residences in the world, designed by famed fashion designer, Giorgio Armani. Built to be sustainable, the Burj will have energy saving, recycling and waste minimization features.
GulfAir is now the official carrier for all events organized by the Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA). The carrier offers the biggest network in the Middle East and connects to over 40 destinations worldwide. The carrier recently launched service to Shanghai.

CZECH REPUBLIC: Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel Prague Completes Refurb

Radisson SAS AlcronRadisson SAS Alcron Hotel, the renowned 5-Star 206-room Art Deco hotel, originally opened in 1932, recently completed a 30-million-USD renovation that increased the number of suites, connecting rooms and amenities.
Situated in the heart of Prague, adjacent to Wenceslas Square, the elegant meeting facilities of the Crystal Ballroom, five private Salons and three boardrooms, equipped with the latest technology, add grace and style to all events. A dedicated conference manager helps to plan and execute events. The Business Center offers full secretarial support services, including translation.

Hyatt HotelsHyatt Hotels and Resorts recently launched its new luxury Andaz™ brand and now it is in the midst of a rapid worldwide expansion. Over ten new hotels will open in Europe and the Middle East in the next few years and there is also strong expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

TANZANIA: Mövenpick Plans Hotel in Tanzania

Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts is building a new resort near Arusha, Tanzania. The Mövenpick Resort Arusha, is situated on 100 acres of farmland and sits at the foot of Mount Meru. Upon completion, the property will feature 200 guest rooms and suites, conference facilities for 400, two restaurants, a spa and an 18-hole golf course.
The Mövenpick Resort Arusha is located in close proximity to Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and Mount Kilimanjaro, which will make the property an ideal choice for incentive travel programs in Tanzania.
Arusha is expected to open in 2011.

UAE: 4-Star Holiday Inn Al Barsha Opens in Dubai

The InterContinental Hotels Group had a soft-opening for its newest Holiday Inn hotel in Dubai last month. The 310-room Holiday Inn Dubai Al Barsha will have its grand opening sometime after Ramadan. (Ramadan takes place from 1st-30th September this year.) The new property, located on Sheikh Zayed Road, is 4-Star and very close to the Mall Of The Emirates.
There are four meeting rooms accommodating 16-144 attendees theater style. Dining and relaxation venues include ten restaurants and several bars, including two on the hotel’s rooftop. The hotel’s fully equipped gym and roof top pool are open and a luxury spa is forthcoming.

DENMARK: Radisson SAS Falconer Hotel Adds onto Conference Facilities

Radisson SAS FalconerThe 4-Star Radisson SAS Falconer Hotel & Conference Centre in Copenhagen came up with a unique way to expand its conference facilities. The hotel is partnering with a new cinema venue named The Audience, which accommodates up to 800 attendees theater style and provides fine acoustics, wide-screen, surround sound and projection rooms. The Conference Centre, which adjoins the hotel, already features impressive facilities. Its Falconer Hall accommodates 2,100 theater and 1,000 classroom styles. The Hall is flexible and can be set up for a gala dinner with a dance floor, large stage and great acoustics in a few hours. The Conference Center auditorium seats 700 and several smaller rooms accommodate 12-150 attendees. 
The Falconer Hotel has 166 guest rooms and suites. The property is located in one of Copenhagen’s charming shopping areas and is surrounded by shops, restaurants and beautiful parks. The Backstage Bar & Restaurant is newly renovated and the Lobby Lounge provides a place to relax. The property is less than 20-minutes from Copenhagen International via a new Metro line.

Emirates A380 Flies to America

EmiratesDubai’s Emirates Airlines is launching its first A380 commercial service on its Dubai/New York JFK route. The airline will be the first carrier to provide A380 commercial service to the North American continent. The inaugural commercial A380 flight takes place on 1st August with a return flight between Dubai and New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport. This first roundtrip flight will be in addition to Emirates’ existing twice-a-day non-stop New York service. Subsequently, Emirates will deploy the A380 between Dubai and New York, on one of its scheduled twice-daily flights. Emirates’ first commercial A380 flight departs Dubai at 11:00hrs on 1 August 2008 and arrives in JFK at 16:45hrs. The return will depart JFK at 21:00 hrs arriving in Dubai at 17:45 hrs the next day.

American Airlines Launches Moscow Service

American AirlinesAmerican Airlines launched daily non-stop service to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport (DME) from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD).
Equipment used on the route is the Boeing 777-200 aircraft with 245 seats configured in three classes with 16 seats in First Class, 37 seats in Business Class and 194 seats in Economy Class.  Flight time is approximately 10 hours eastbound and 10 hours 45 minutes westbound with a roundtrip distance of nearly 10,000 miles.
Domodedovo is a privately owned and operated airport that opened in 1996. It has integrated domestic and international connection passenger facilities, superior access to downtown Moscow by train and it is also served by other oneworld® carriers.
